Quick Any2Ico is a tiny portable freeware that lets you create ICO icon files for your programs, websites or for any other purposes, as well as extract images from icon resource files. It works very efficiently and is completely customizable. It features both command line as well graphical user interface and it can even automatically set your image according to a square icon file.

There are two options given in the program

1. Convert From Any File or Folder
2. Extract from Any File or Folder

The first one means it will create an icon file from any specified graphic image file. The second option means it will extract images or icons from a given DLL file.

Create icon from image file

First of all, you need to select the source image, you can either choose it from your computer or extract it from some binary resource. Remember if you are extracting from a binary source, you need to enter the icon index.
The second step is about choosing the destination file and format. You can save the file in ICO as well as PNG format. Both the formats are converted very efficiently and properly.
In the third step, you need to choose the size and some other options. You can save the ICO file in following different sizes:

• 16×16
• 24×24
• 32×32
• 48×48
• 64×64
• 72×72
• 96×96
• 128×128
• 256×256
• 512×512

But if you are saving it as PNG, then the largest size will  automatically be saved. Quick Any2Ico offers PNG compression of larger formats in order to decrease the size of the ICO files. You can enable this option while conversion in order to generate ICO files of least possible size.

Then comes the basic automatic editing done by the program. If your selected image is not properly squared (icons are always square), the program can automatically square them before conversion.
Under this feature you get three options:

1. Centre: The selected file would be centred and then converted.
2. Crop: Selected file would be cropped to a square and there is a tendency that you may lose some part of the image.
3. Stretch: The image would be stretched to a square without losing any part of it.

Once you’ve chosen all these settings, you need to hit the ‘Convert It’ button and in a fraction of second the ICO file will be saved to the chosen location. The program is very easy to use and operate. The UI is very simple to understand and all the features are placed perfectly into it. You can even use the program from command line, you can know the commands from the program website.

Extract images or icons from DLL file

As mentioned earlier, his tool can help you in extracting icons from a DLL file. You can do one of the two following things:

1. Create individual icon files for all files contained in a DLL file (this would be a waste of time as you can select the icon by right clicking a folder whose icon you want to change, selecting properties, and then selecting Change Icon.)
2. Create image files in PNG format for the icon you select in the DLL file.

Overall, the software is useful and it was more than I expected in 230 KBs. The minor automation feature makes the process of making icons a breeze.

Of no updates are found, you will see a message Software is up to date. For details you can click on the Report link. Using its Settings, you will be able to schedule its scans.
This tool will add an entry to the start up list and want to run every time Windows starts.
You may take a call on this, and decide whether you want this to happen or you want to run it on-demand.

This free tools currently scan for updates available for Adobe AIR, Adobe Flash Player – Plugin & ActiveX, Adobe Reader, Adobe Shockwave Player, Sun Java, Oracle Java, Google Chrome, SeaMonkey, Opera, Firefox,  Thunderbird and a few other applications, but it is expected that this list will grow soon.

How to Connect to Any PC with Google Chrome Remote Desktop Tool

Now accessing PC from far away is easy via Google Chrome new remote desktop software.

Many of us face the same problem one day or the other when we are out somewhere and need to access something on our PC urgently. Upto now there were a lot of tools like Team Viewer etc but they need a person to be present at the other end, that is our PC lying in our residence or office. Now Google Chrome Desktop Tool offers a far better solution in staying connected to your PC from anywhere in the world.
It also lets you access a friends PC so you can troubleshoot some quick fix problem for him/her.
So here is how to setup remote desktop connection through the Chrome Remote Desktop App,   which you will love to use.  The new extension will allow you to set up a remote desktop connection through chrome browsers on different computers regardless of the operating systems each computer has. Chrome Remote Desktop is simple and pretty straightforward to use.
To get this extension go the chrome store and install the Chrome Remote Desktop app for your browser. Once it’s showing up on chrome://apps page, launch it and authorise the plug-in to allow remote connections via your Google account.

Under “Remote Assistance” you can either share your computer with others or you can access a shared computer. Click “Get started” and you’ll be prompted to download an extra software patch; then click “Enable remote connections” to make your current computer accessible from elsewhere.



Then Chrome will ask for a PIN. Confirm the PIN in the pop-up window, and you’re just about ready to go. By default, the machine uses the name given to it by the operating system, but you can change this by clicking the pencil icon.

This feature works as the person who wants to share his computer, passes a 12 digit code to the other person that is generated by the Chrome Remote Desktop app. The other person enters this 12 digit code into the same app in their chrome browser. The connection is established over a secure channel once this code is authenticated. The person can then work on the shared computer right in the chrome browser.
Whenever you’re inside the relevant browser tab, your mouse clicks and keyboard taps will be sent to the computer that you’re remotely connected to. An alert is displayed on the original machine together with a Stop Sharing button you can tap to cancel the whole arrangement at any time. If someone else is sat at the original computer, it can still be controlled as normal.
The app is also available for both Android and iOS users as well, so you enjoy this feature even with your iPad or Nexus phone. The only problem with Chrome Remote Desktop App is that you need to have Chrome browser installed on the target PC.  Once you are past that hurdle, the App works like a breeze.
